- Agile within waterfall world
- Contract with room to evolve, assume the contract will be amended, or be vague enough to not need amendments
- Start without the end defined, only the beginning
- Funding to do x, begin x, define y, deliver z
- Product will live on, but quarterly goals are defined and tracked on progress
- Backlog will evolve, but hit milestone(s) on time
- Scope, Schedule, Budget (the project triangle) applied to market research for what the customer wants (the product vision)
- New title ideas
- PPM = Project Product Manager
- PJM = Product(Ject) Manager
- J – Ject – everything about proJects
- D – Duct – everything about proDucts
- PDJM – DuctJect Manager
- The PPM = SME, understand the product and the customer, and the team, and the features
- The PPM = embedded with development team, value-add to the team, wears lots of hats
- Mix of Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, get $h!t done, release early, release often
- Technical PPM = SME with technical background, can speak on behalf of engineers, suggest bringing tech lead to meetings, but OK if not there, followup after
- Non-technical PPM: parter up with an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead
